“This world is yours for the taking..”


Ladies and gentleman, it has been one hell of a long time since I’ve posted (really only like 4 months but still.) Over the last year I have changed so much as a person in such a positive way, and I would love to share some things with you since you’re taking the time to read this. PS I have a lot of thoughts running through my head so bear with me if what you read is all jumbled up.

The quote above is from a song that not very many of you would find appealing to the ears, but its the general attitude and message of the lyrics that hits home for me. When it all comes down to it, this world we all live and breathe in is ours in our own way. There are certain things we can control, and others that are out of our hands that we have to accept. A lot of us over-think, worry, get angry or just react to things in a negative way that can completely change the situation and turn it from a learning experience into a problem. Creating problems is unhealthy for you and your wellbeing. For example, on days where you feel like little things just keep adding up and adding up to make for a crap day, what is getting angry and upset going to do for you? A very good friend of mine told me today she was reading something and it was talking about how our first reactions are usually wrong in most cases. We just react because we feel the need to react. When really we all need to learn how to take a step back from situations and just recognize what’s happening and what it means. Some people do this too much though, we call this over-thinking. You can only think about something so much before you find something deep down that you feel is wrong. Get over it. Most things we do or don’t do in life are filled with problems if you dig deep enough.

What I’m trying to say is, you have all the power to control how you feel and how you react. Sure, it’s difficult to control every emotion you have the instant they arise, but I believe it’s possible. I believe in being happy for no reason at all, having a smile on your face for the smallest reason. Today I woke up under two blankets inside of a warm home. That’s awesome. Be selfless. Do things for people just because, you don’t always need a reason for an action when it’s for good. Be kind and loving. In contrast to that… Be selfish. Never forget that this is your life to live. Do what makes you happy, love the things you want, be yourself and strive for the crazy goals you day dream about. I can’t guarantee you that your every dream will come true, but by following your heart you will be on the correct path. And that’s all we can ask for! I know this piece has been a mix of random thoughts but that’s how I write :) and I want to leave you with a thought.. 

 

When was the last time you had a second thought about something you wanted? Why did you think twice? Was it worth it to think again or did you miss out on something? I live with no regrets but today something small crossed my mind and I thought twice… And shoot! I should’ve just done it. Sometimes you gotta just throw yourself into the water and let the current take you wherever it wants.

Fear


I am laying in my bed after closing both my bathroom and closet doors because something in my head is still afraid of what could be waiting in the dark rooms. Fear makes me do it. Fear of something I created in my head. And this got me thinking…

 

When we fear something in our lives, whether it’s speaking in front of a group, making a decision, afraid of that shark that’s going to get you in the water, or the ghost in my closet… Whatever it is in our lives that we fear, all comes from our head. Sure there might be some reasonable facts or past experiences that can instil this fear in our minds, but it’s still our minds that ultimately creates it. When someone is afraid of going up on stage speaking to a crowd, all they see in their head is them screwing up their speech, stuttering and slurring words, sweating and just being awkward. When you create images in your head, your body now knows how to react to that certain situation you thought of. So more than likely when that person goes up on stage to give their speech, their visions will become a reality. Not good.

 

Instead of embracing fear, try to look beyond it. Pay no attention to it. Think about how it would feel to go up on stage and give the best speech anyone has seen. Imagine the confidence you can have. Imagine anything positive that can happen. Let your mind wander with positive energy and envision a confident you. Like for me… I need to walk into the dark room and smile because there is nothing in there but my 5-year-old mind. Fear can hold us back from anything it wants to. Maybe tomorrow try something that you are afraid to do, big or small, and just do it with confidence. Don’t be your own limiter. Allow success to come to you!

 

Now let’s hope these monsters  don’t get me..
